We’ve moved! Check out our FULL review of the DH6 helmet HERE. Review summary below.
Predator Helmets has introduced the DH6-Xe, an updated version of the DH6-Xg helmet, retaining its stylish design with a flip-down lens while incorporating several changes. This review outlines the modifications and highlights what’s praiseworthy and problematic about the helmet.
Changes in the Predator DH6-Xe Helmet Compared to the DH6-Xg:
- Fidlock20 Magnet Buckle vs. Double D-ring Buckle: The DH6-Xe features a Fidlock20 magnet buckle for easy and secure fastening, particularly convenient when wearing gloves. This magnetic mechanism is a significant improvement over the previous double-D ring design.
- Fire Logo Replaces the Predator Logo: The Predator logo under the right cheek has been updated to the fire logo, giving the helmet a fresh look.
- Mirror Lens No Longer Included: Unlike the DH6-Xg, the mirror lens is no longer included with the DH6-Xe.
- Extra Microfiber Bag for the Spare Lens: The DH6-Xe comes with an additional microfiber bag to protect the spare lens, addressing the issue of potential lens scratches. The helmet and lens each have their own bags for added protection.
- Lower Price: The DH6-Xe is available at a lower price point compared to its predecessor.
What’s to Love About the DH6-Xe Helmet:
- Lightweight at only 900 grams
- Tool-free lens swapping
- Lens with good optics
- Includes both clear and black lenses
- Effective ventilation, particularly when compared to the TSG Pass Pro
- Chin guard is lower and doesn’t obstruct your mouth
- One size fits most with various pad inserts
- Sleek appearance
- Option to purchase different lens colors
- Comes with microfiber helmet bag and microfiber lens bag
- Fidlock buckle for secure and convenient latching
- Utilizes heat-cured pre-preg resin for increased strength
- Lenses have anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings
- CE-1078 certified
- Removable and washable liner
Drawbacks of the DH6-Xe Helmet:
- Not DOT approved
- The mirror lens is no longer included
- Slightly more expensive than the TSG Pass Pro
Final Thoughts:
The Predator DH6-Xe helmet is a fantastic choice for rides under 30 mph, offering excellent head protection. However, it’s worth noting that for situations where you may not have control over how you land, a DOT-approved helmet might be a better option. The DH6-Xe is more costly than the TSG Pass Pro, but it offers superior quality. Predator Helmets has acknowledged the need for a DOT-approved helmet, and such a product is expected to be released in the near future.
If you’re seeking a sleek helmet for your personal electric vehicle (PEV), the DH6-Xe is certainly worth considering.
