Horizon Fluidfree Ride Electric Scooter Review: Great Value with a Few Flaws

We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

The Fluid Free Ride Horizon electric scooter, priced at around $700, is a superb choice that surpasses expectations for entry to intermediate e-scooter riders. With a top speed of 23-25 mph and a range of 20 miles (10.4Ah) or 25 miles (13Ah), it provides impressive performance. The scooter weighs 40 lbs (10Ah) or 42 lbs (13Ah) and supports a maximum load of 265 lbs.

We have enjoyed using the Horizon scooter, which bears a strong resemblance to the Turbowheel Swift. It has become the primary mode of transportation for our 15-year-old son, who uses it for various activities, including school, church, and cross country practice.

The Horizon offers a rugged and robust design akin to the Turbowheel Swift. Both models feature rear drum brakes, suspension, and lights, making them stand out in terms of appearance.

In terms of acceleration and top speed, the Horizon offers a more gradual but controlled acceleration, ensuring a smooth ride. With a top speed of 25 mph, it’s perfect for daily needs and can keep up with other electric unicycles and Onewheels during group rides.

Riding the Horizon feels secure and stable. The adjustable stem height accommodates riders of various heights, enhancing comfort. The pneumatic front tire and front/rear suspension provide a smooth ride, while the rear airless tire reduces the risk of flats.

The rear drum brakes work effectively, complemented by regenerative braking for efficient and safe stops. The scooter’s heavy yet balanced design adds to the overall safety.

While it offers excellent portability with folding handlebars, the 40-pound weight could be a challenge for some users. A rear handle, like the one on the Turbowheel Swift, would have been beneficial.

Minor flaws include the wired appearance due to visible cables, handlebars loosening over time (requiring periodic tightening), smooth yet relatively low-positioned lights, a short kickstand (which didn’t cause problems), and a charge port near the front tire, making it easy to hit the cable when moving the scooter while plugged in.

In summary, the Fluid Free Ride Horizon is an excellent option for first-time e-scooter buyers or those upgrading from budget-level scooters. Its price-performance ratio makes it a compelling choice. For current pricing, visit Fluid Free Ride.
