Jimmy and I are passionate about safety gear for personal electric vehicles (PEVs). The saying, “Dress for the slide, not the ride,” holds true, as PEVs can reach high speeds and pose a risk in the event of a crash. Kevlar, known for its use in bulletproof vests, is now being incorporated into safety gear to protect against road rash. Andromeda Moto, a Spanish safety gear company, specializes in Kevlar-lined gear and stands out by offering all-vegan products.

Andromeda Makemake Shirt Review:
The Makemake shirt resembles a traditional plaid flannel, but it conceals SAS-TEC level 2 padding for the elbows, shoulders, and back, all lined with yellow Kevlar. Made from thick woven cotton, it’s best suited for temperatures below 70 degrees. While the Makemake shirt provides excellent protection, it may feel too thick for hot summer days.
Andromeda Meteor Winter Gloves Review:
The Meteor Winter gloves are designed for cold weather riding. These gloves offer carbon fiber knuckle protection, Kevlar lining, ventilation, and wrist support. They resemble leather gloves but are made from vegan Superfabric®. However, they lack true wrist guard protection, and you need to remove them to use your phone. They strike a balance between protection and aesthetics.
Andromeda Comet Gloves Review:
The Comet Gloves are lightweight and constructed from black polyethylene leather fabric (UHMWPE), known for its superior strength compared to traditional leather. These gloves are water-repellent, providing protection against water, abrasion, and wind chill. They are thin but offer limited wrist protection. Comet Gloves are primarily designed for weather resistance and protection from wind and abrasion.
Andromeda Meteor Gloves:
The Meteor Gloves are similar to the Meteor Winter Gloves but designed for warmer weather. An earlier version had stitching and Kevlar lining issues, which were corrected in the Meteor Gloves V2. These gloves pair well with Andromeda’s custom-made NearX suit, which features a vegan, padded design and is AAA level certified, offering the highest safety rating.
Andromeda Moto has successfully combined protection, comfort, convenience, and style in their safety gear. The gear is not only highly protective but also comfortable to wear, making it more likely for users to consistently wear it and stay safe during PEV rides.
