Gotway DTEN Electric Scooter Review

We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

The Gotway DTEN electric scooter, priced under $1500, is powerful and designed by Gotway, an electric unicycle manufacturer known for its powerful yet flawed products. It offers several advantages:

  1. Premium Kindshock EXA Form 290 Coil Shock Suspension, delivering excellent suspension for its price range.
  2. A comfortable seat with a small spring for a cushioned ride.
  3. A large deck measuring 22″ by 10″.
  4. Adjustable stem height, ranging from 34″ to 44″.
  5. Smooth thumb throttle for controlled acceleration.

However, there are some drawbacks to the Gotway DTEN:

  1. In the highest gear, it experiences instant torque, making it challenging to control and potentially dangerous for riders.
  2. The electronic braking system engages immediately when you release the throttle, causing instability and potential safety concerns.
  3. The built-in light is weak.
  4. Folding and locking the scooter can be difficult.
  5. The scooter lacks a display in the standard package and must be requested separately.

This electric scooter is suitable for experienced riders who seek a powerful, comfortable, and affordable option for various purposes. It is ideal for food delivery due to its comfortable seat and good range, as well as for those who primarily use it in the first gear. The suspension and seat make it suitable for off-road riding in the first gear. However, it may not be suitable for children, conservative riders, or beginners. It requires skill and attentiveness to manage the throttle and electronic braking system effectively.

In summary, the Gotway DTEN offers considerable power, a comfortable seat, and premium suspension for its price but is best suited for experienced riders who understand and can manage its quirks. Respect and responsibility are essential when handling its significant power.

  2. Andrew, you nailed it with this review. I bought the Dten, although the graphics on mine read Magnum V-1; it’s still the same scooter. You were also correct on the display – had to contact the supplier, FreeMotion, but ultimately they were great and sent everything they said they would.
This scooter is fast with a sensitive throttle that’ll throw you off the back if you are not prepared for the rapid acceleration. Again, agreed with Andrew, this is not for a newcomer to e-scooters.
Thanks Andrew, appreciate all the great info in your reviews! For those of you looking for more of Andrew’s thorough, impartial scooter reviews, check out Jimmy Chang’s YouTube channel.

  3. This is a good read……now i must have this scooter muhahaha……but that electronic braking kicking in after you release the throttle is well kinda nerve wracking gotway did it that way.

  4. I just order one and was wondering if you’ve tried to figure out a way to disable the electronic braking, there has to be a way to do it

    1. I’m not 100% sure if they have resolved this. I heard from Free Motion that they were supposed to receive an update. I would follow up with them to make sure. I hope you are enjoying your Dten!

  5. Is this nominal 3500W or Peak Power?
Im very tired of scoots that advertise them self as 5600W scoots for instance, that is 2 motors at 1900W each but with a peak power of 2800W. The same goes for speed, claiming a wooping 100km/h top speed, then the controller is limited to 80km/h?

  6. Well you sold it to me and I ordered one. Came without any decals, no handbook, and the lower part of the seat that somehow gets connected to the deck is missing. No answer to phone calls or texts. Right not very annoyed.

  7. Hi there! Would you mind if I share your blog with my facebook group?

There’s a lot of folks that I think would really appreciate
your content. Please let me know. Cheers

  8. Does anybody here still have a dten? I’m rewiring in a new controller and mixed up the order of the wires on the hall sensor so I was hoping somebody could send me a picture of their hall sensor

  9. I have been seeking this info for a long time. Almost 2 hours of online finding, fortunately I saw it in your website. I wonder why Alexa never show this sort of useful websites in the top of the list. Generally the top search engine results are full of garbages. Maybe it is time to change to other search engine.
