VSETT 9 and VSETT 9+ Electric Scooter Review

We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

Testing the VSETT electric scooter line, the VSETT 9+ stood out even though I initially focused on the VSETT 10+ and VSETT 11+. My surprise was due to its remarkable power, even with dual 650-watt motors.

I favor high-powered scooters, so I didn’t have high expectations for the VSETT 9+. However, it exceeded my assumptions by hitting 29 mph, and it likely had more potential with a full charge (my weight: 190 lbs, 40-degree weather).

The main differences between VSETT 9 and VSETT 9+ are the dual motors in the latter and the voltage (52V for 9, 48V for 9+). The 9+ is slightly heavier.

Top 5 Pros of VSETT 9+:

  1. Impressive acceleration with dual 650W motors.
  2. Sturdy stem lock mechanism without wobbling.
  3. Comfortable ride on 8.5-inch, 3-inch wide tires.
  4. Striking design with unique elements.
  5. Robust build for a commuter scooter.

The VSETT 9+ delivers remarkable instant power and torque, even when compared to the VSETT 10+. It may not reach the 10+’s top speed, but its quick acceleration is noteworthy.

The scooter’s safety features are strong, with a solid three-layer stem lock mechanism to ensure rider safety.

Despite the 8.5-inch tire size, the ride is smooth thanks to their 3-inch width and effective tread pattern. The swing arm suspension further enhances the ride quality.

The VSETT 9 and 9+ feature a distinctive and eye-catching design. With chrome accents, teal highlights, a unique folding mechanism, and more, they stand out.

Comparing the VSETT 9 and 9+ to other commuter scooters, they offer significant advantages. For instance, the popular Segway Ninebot Max lacks suspension and has fragile parts. In comparison, the VSETT 9s combine the strengths of these scooters while strengthening the stem’s build.

Top 5 Cons of VSETT 9+:

  1. Considered heavy for a commuter scooter.
  2. Collapsible handlebars don’t sit flush when folded.
  3. The deck is made of hard rubber with a silicone center.
  4. Unique stem shape may limit accessory compatibility.
  5. Controversial charging port placement.

While the VSETT 9+ is slightly heavier compared to many commuter scooters, it compensates with notable features. The collapsible handlebars, while a great addition, do not fold flush. The deck’s hard rubber with a silicone center may not be ideal for slick-bottomed shoes. Plus, the unique stem shape might limit accessory options. The charging port placement on the top front of the deck has sparked debate but seems manageable.

In conclusion, the VSETT 9+ offers impressive performance, build quality, and safety features. Despite some drawbacks, it’s a strong contender in the scooter market for those seeking a reliable and powerful commuter scooter.

  1. Great review guys, I’m waiting for the UK to legalise scooters and I think the vsett9+ could be my commuter solution! My only gripes are I wish the fenders were better (longer) and it had a high mounted light and a thumb throttle! Those colored accents on the handlebars would be great if they were actually indicator lights so u have high mounted indicators too!

    1. I’m disappointed that UK allows scooter sharing but does not allow scooter ownership. I agree with all your improvements. The fender works well but could defintiely be a little bit longer. And high mounted lights and turn signals would be best for visibility.

  2. there is a company based in the Uk (and Europe I believe) called pure electric that make two xiaomi style commuter scooters called the pure air and pure air pro. Both are ip65 rated and the warranty covers water ingress for the first year! They are 250w/350w with 10 inch tubed pneumatics so no suspension sadly and I don’t think they ship to the US yet, but if you can get in touch I’m sure they would ship you one to review as they must eventually ship to the US in the long term you would think.

  3. The air pro is £419 and the air is £299 over this bank holiday aswell! Bargain whatever way u swing it at that price. Be great if u guys can get in touch with pure electric about them. Also be interesting how they compare with the upcoming Apollo air and air pro! (Shame about the same name!) 🙂

  4. More I look at the vsett models the more confused I get about which one is for me. I prefer the look and size of the 9 and 9+ With folding stem but I like the reduced maintenance due to drum breaks u get with the 8’s. In your opinion how good is the single motor 9 compared to the single and dual motor 8?? As in single form it’s the same power!? Does a 650 watt single motor do ok on hills and acceleration etc? For reference I own a 350 watt etwow s+!

    1. agreed, vsett 9 with drum brakes and more collapsible (especially the length) or even better vsett 8 with proper tyres would be the perfect choice.
you don’t want a scooter to take your boot space completely. that simply means you won’t take it with you. vsett 8 can be put into car parallel to chairs, together with other scooter. crazy 104x20x40cm folded.

let’s make vsett 8+ Ultra with normal tyres. solids are horrible.
